Application Timeline.

Applications for the 2025 cohort will go live in the late fall of 2024. Sign up to the email list below to make sure you get updated when those applications open!

eligibility.

Applicants must showcase strong leadership potential, commitment to their craft, academic responsibility, and be in need of financial assistance to be eligible for this scholarship. You can only be awarded the scholarship once.

If you are eligible, you MUST meet the following requirements to apply:

  • Identify as Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, or a Person of Color.

  • Pursue a degree or a concentration in Stage Management, Technical Theatre, Theatre Design, Playwriting, Directing, or Theatre Management.

  • Be enrolled, or intend to enroll, at an accredited college or university based in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska in the Spring of 2022.

  • Be a US Citizen.

  • Be a full-time student for the academic year.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Note:

Students studying at online programs or trade schools, are NOT eligible.

Students enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in a United States territory are NOT eligible.

Frequently asked questions.

Q: I don’t identify as Black, Asian, Latina, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. Can I still apply?

A: Unfortunately, no. We support all young professionals, but this scholarship program is specifically for artists who identify as BIPOC.

Q: My degree/concentration is not specified in the breakdown. Can I still apply?

A: Please contact us for confirmation prior to applying. Scholarship@codyrenard.com.

Q: I’m a performance major. Can I still apply?

A: Unfortunately, no. At this time our program is only intended for BIPOC students pursuing offstage theatrical degrees.

Q: Can I still apply if I don’t meet the GPA requirements?

A: Yes! If submitted your application will be reviewed regardless of your GPA score. We encourage all eligible candidates to apply.

Q: I’m not a US citizen. Can I still apply?

A: At this time, we are only able to provide financial support to US citizens.

Q: How will we be notified if we are selected?

A: EVERYONE will be notified via email after the selection process has concluded. Recipients will also be announced online.

Q: Are the online sessions mandatory?

A: Yes. As a part of the scholarship program recipients MUST participate in the scheduled online sessions. Failure to participate will affect the eligibility of scholarship grants for the recipient. The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance AND mentorship through these sessions. Please do not apply if you can’t commit to the sessions.


Q: How much will each scholar receive from their scholarship?

A: The exact amount of scholarship will be announcement with the selection of this year’s scholars. Previous scholars have received between $5,000 and $8,000 towards thei rtuition.

Q: I missed the deadline. Can I submit my application late?

A: Late applications will not be accepted. We urge all applicants to get their applications in early.

Q: If I am not selected this year, can I apply again?

A: Please do! However, you are only eligible to be awarded the scholarship/entrance to the program once.
